The old tennis lawn below the house (scene of a civil war skirmish) is dominated by very fine and ancient trees including Copper Beeches, Monkey Puzzles and Eucalyptus trees and surrounded by a rare species of early Rhododendrons and Azaleas planted circa 1890.
Beyond the donkey paddock is an enchanting natural pond edged with Weeping Willows, Giant Gunnera, surrounded by Ponticums and teeming with wildlife.
Newly restored to a very high standard creating a large indoor space with a magnificent fireplace with all facilities. Suitable for weddings, live music, storytelling, craft workshops, corporate functions and private hire.
The River Garden is accessed by crossing a suspension bridge over the River Ow or an alternative route using the stepping stones (but only for the brave). The path through the forest leads to a spectacular cascade waterfall with a Japanese bridge over the falls. The various walks lead to the Himalayan Gardens with ancient ferns and mosses variously encrusted on the cliff face with a large natural cave all enveloped in a unique temperate rainforest.
